On December 1, 2011 we were on a Cubana Air flight ( Flair Air) to Camaguey, Cuba. Instead of arriving in Camaguey the plane was diverted to Santiago de Cuba. After disembarking and taking all carry on baggage off the plane we finally took off. Instead of arriving in Camaguey at 10:30 am as scheduled we finally arrived at 2:30pm. The worse food I have ever had on an airline. The flight back home was no better. If the food was bad on the way to Cuba it was even worse on the return home. Cancelled our trip to Bonaire and forfeited the $2K deposit. Not even offered a refund on the flight, supervisor wanted to try and board us again but we refused to enter that death trap. Awful airline. Fly at your own risk, they are operating planes that are falling apart. The airplane was 5 hours late departing due to freezing rain. The plane was totally full and Gotravelsouth did not pass on our preselected (and paid for) seat choices, so we had bad seats. A tip : don't pay for seat selection, and be at the terminal 3 hours before departure, and you can have any seat you want. There is no entertainment nor any reading material and the seats are old blue leather and not very comfortable. Coffee tea and soft drinks were free and booze was $6. The flight was good. The first flight I went from Edmonton to the North West Territories. The staffs and service were good, friendly and helpful. The check in was pleasent and there were no other charges for my 3 bags. The plane was a Boeing 737, the flight staffs were friendly. The return flight was just as good with hot dinner and free wine. Our flight out we flew on a deHavilland DHC-3T otter. The amazing views over the mountains and over the alpone lake view unforgetable. The flight was smooth and there were no complain on my part, I was quit impress. We came back on the mackenzie Pass over the Ross River and over the mountains with some light rain. The flight back was also smooth and I felt safe at all time. The seats were pretty comfortable on all Alkan Air flights. Overall, I would recommend Alkan Air.
